We would like to update our organization’s description on GoodSearch. This is the revised text:
Since 1963, the LCMC has trained volunteers to be literacy and English tutors for adults who live or work in Montgomery County, Maryland. We offer tutor-training workshops regularly, and match tutors with one or more adult students in their area. Tutors meet two hours per week with their students. All books and materials are provided to students free of charge, to allow even very low-income individuals to get the help they need. At any one time, more than 300 adults are on the LCMC's waiting list hoping to be matched with a tutor. The LCMC also offers ESL classes, computer-based literacy and ESL instruction, and English conversation classes.
