Literacy Coalition of Greene County

about

The mission of the Greene County Literacy Coalition is to promote literacy through existing programs, to develop new programs and to increase public awareness of and involvement in the cause for literacy. The main focus of the Coalition has been the recruitment of new readers, and the recruiting and training of volunteer tutors who work individually with new readers. Currently the Coalition coordinates with Head Start, provides tutoring to those working toward their GED and trains tutors in adult literacy, English as a Second Language, and math and living skills. We facilitate GED preparation at the Work Release Center and the Greene County Jail.
