Literacy Center - TLC

Vision and Mission: Our mission is to improve the basic literacy skills of adults in our community. Overview and History: The Literacy Center (TLC) is a voluntary, not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving basic adult literacy in our community. We serve any adult student (18 +) who is reading below an eighth grade level. We have been active in the Evansville community since 1966, and TLC became an incorporated 501(c) 3 organization in 1999. Our volunteers have helped thousands of men and women better their lives through literacy. Our principal service is providing free reading instruction to adults who need help with Basic Adult Literacy. Both, one-to-one tutoring and computer based instruction are offered through our center. Educational materials are provided free of charge to the tutor and tutee. We provide personal instruction in our Literacy Lab, and tutors work one-to-one with adult students teaching them basic literacy skills to read their goals.
