Life's Door and Tishkofet (“perspective”)-LDT are U.S. and Israeli registered non-profit organizations that are dedicated to transform the experience of facing life threatening illness from one of anguish, confusion and denial to one that encourages collaboration, growth and healing for patients, families and professionals. LDT was established by Prof. Ben Corn, Chairman of Radiation Oncology at Sourasky Tel Aviv Medical Center, and his wife, Phyllis Dvora, an occupational and marital family therapist.
Professional services provided to patients and their family members include counseling, workshops, seminars and healing retreats for individuals and couples. LDT-trained volunteers offer vital support to patients and families at the later stages of illness. These services help empower patients and their loved ones to experience a deeper level of meaning in their lives and allow them to learn effective coping mechanisms to confront the challenges posed by serious illness.
