Description
The Lazarus House is dedicated to helping adults and adolescents successfully combat and manage 'cachexia', or disease related muscle loss. We teach life skills to the chronically ill so they may learn how to enjoy a more productive and improved quality of life. Cachexia is the devastating cycle of malnutrition and muscle loss that accompanies chronic illnesses like cancer, HIV/AIDS, lupus, muscular dystrophy, and even spinal cord trauma. It robs clients of their energy, sense of well being, quality of life, and ability to live independently.
Providing hope and opportunity to many and set in the one of a kind, safe haven, a refurbished Victorian house in Midtown Houston, the Wellness Program is a multidisciplinary program that focuses on the body, mind and spirit through an integrated program of exercise, nutrition, and peer support. The Wellness Program teaches adults and adolescents life improving skills that empower each individually to attain an improved quality of life.
