Lawndale Christian Development Corporation (LCDC) was established in 1987 to bring holistic revitalization to the lives and environments of North Lawndale residents through economic empowerment, housing improvements, educational enrichment, and community advocacy.
LCDC has completed more than $32 million in development projects in North Lawndale including a $3.1 million childcare facility that serves 220 children and employs 50 people. LCDC’s 42-computer state-of-the art Technology Center provides critical technology access and training to youth and adults in Lawndale.
Because of our reputation of excellence in community building, LCDC was selected to serve as the lead agency in Lawndale for the Local Initiatives Support Corporation’s (LISC) New Communities Program (NCP). LCDC is organizing local residents around the development and implementation of a five-year “Quality of Life Plan.” The goal of the plan is to create comprehensive, sustainable change in North Lawndale.
