Description
Lamp Community is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization that permanently ends homelessness, improves health, and builds self-sufficiency among homeless people living with severe mental illness. Operating from seven sites in Skid Row, Lamp Community provides immediate housing and a constellation of lifelong supportive services. Housing options offer diverse levels of support and structure and include: private subsidized apartments, long-term motel units, a Safe Haven, SRO (Single Room Occupancy) units, and a community residence. Once housed, tenants participate in voluntary services of their choice: mental and physical health care, money management, drug recovery, job training/employment, and apartment maintenance/shopping, to name a few. With its housing and services, Lamp Community ends homelessness among men and women who have called the streets home for as long as a decade and gives people tools to permanently transform their lives.
