The primary purpose of the Lovie and MaryAnne Smith (LAMAS) Foundation is to provide educational and life skill opportunities to worthy young people who otherwise face barriers in reaching their educational goals.
Who benefits from LAMAS? Kids that are worthy of scholarships – not just indigent, but any child where there are barriers of any kind to educational pursuits. Education that could not only enhance that child’s life, but will allow that individual the opportunity to make positive changes and be a contributing entity wherever they live and whatever they do.
Every human being is entitled to a sense of worth. Education is the key, whether it is trade school or university level or, in the case of handicapped young people, having broader opportunities to learn basic life skills that can enhance their ability to be a viable part of their community.
