The Lady Wheelchair Mavericks Basketball Team is a non-profit organization committed to improving the health and well-being of physically disabled women and girls. Participation in active and competitive wheelchair sports promotes both independence and self-confidence; it also encourages development of life-long skills which in turn supports the maintenance of a healthy life style. The program emphasizes skills training and leadership development, while also challenging each player to actively give back through volunteer work in the community and schools.The Lady Mavericks has been providing opportunities for women and girls since 1990. The Lady Mavericks do exhibitions at schools to educate about disability and mentor other individuals with disabilities.
