Description
Iowa is a sister state with Yamanashi in Japan. In the 1960's an Iowa farmer sent pigs and corn to Yamanashi to help after a natural disaster. Keokuk is sister cities with a town in Yamanashi, Japan called Kai. Middle school students travel to Kai and they students from Kai travel Keokuk in a two week summer exchange. The goal is to bring international friendship and awareness between two countries that were at once in war with each other.
