Description

The Kent Bellows Studio and Center for the Visual Arts is a growing and unique arts mentoring organization for teenaged artists in Omaha. We have continued Kent Bellows’ legacy of artistic creativity and mentorship with our mission to serve young people in our community, helping them discover their creative voice by providing mentorship with professional artists.

Founded in 2007, The Studio targets young people between the ages 14 and 18. That’s a time when teens are particularly at risk for unhealthy or destructive behavior, but it’s also a time when they’re bursting with ideas and unharnessed creative energy. Our programs funnel and focus that energy into projects that help them grow as artists – and as people.

At The Kent Bellows Studio, we help young people discover and develop their artistic voices by pairing them with adult mentors who are already pursuing life in the arts. By combining individualized attention, innovative and tested pedagogy, and art projects that engage the local community, we empower and challenge young people to solve problems creatively. We believe that helping kids become better artists helps them become better people. Better thinkers, better decision makers – more valuable to themselves and to their community.
