Description
The Kennett Symphony of Chester County is an all-professional orchestra, now in its 68th year. The Symphony presents five public performances a year, and a free Children’s Concert. Mary Woodmansee Green has served as Music Director and Conductor for 20 years. The Symphony was founded in 1940 and has evolved from a volunteer community association to an orchestra composed wholly of professional musicians. Throughout its history, the mission has remained to provide an opportunity for audiences to hear live quality symphonic music and to encourage young musicians and tomorrow’s audiences with an extensive outreach program. The Symphony has a dedicated program “Beyond the Music”, to give back to the community through donations of complimentary concert tickets to non-profit fundraisers and local community service organizations.
