Description
The Kempner Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1972 and is a 100% volunteer FD located in Eastern Lampasas County of central Texas. The KVFD protection area covers 126 square miles and includes approx. 10,500 citizens; a large portion of which are soldiers stationed at neighboring Fort Hood. The KVFD is supported through a minimal operating budget provided by Lampasas County but relies heavily on the generosity of the surrounding community to cover equipment replacement, upgrades and repairs. The department currently maintains 2 stations that house a total of 2 engines, 7 brush trucks, 2 tenders and 2 support vehicles. The current roster of members stands at roughly 30 dedicated men and women. During an average year KVFD responds to approximately 325 calls to include mutual aid calls to fire departments in western Bell County, northeastern Burnett County, and southwestern Coryell County. The Kempner Volunteer Fire Department is a non-profit 501 c3 organization.
