Description

KBEP was founded in 2001 in response to the brutal murder of Katherine "Katie" Brown from Barrington, RI. Katie was 20 years old when she was killed by the young man she dated since high school. To honor Katie's life, KBEP is dedicated to the recognition and prevention of relationship violence. KBEP has developed an innovative curriculum that is delivered to students in traditional school settings in public, private and parochial schools. KBEP educators teach our interactive curriculum to students in fifth grade through high school, which addresses a myriad of issues related to relationship violence, such as bullying, dating violence and the use of technology to perpetrate violence. Based on the belief that education is the foundation and channel for permanent change in attitudes and behaviors, KBEP promotes respectful relationships by teaching alternatives to relationship violence.
