Description
Kashmir Family Aid is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Bend, Oregon.
Our primary goal is to counter poverty in Pakistan and Azad Kashmir by providing secular education to children displaced by the 2005 earthquake. No politics. No religion. The 2005 quake killed at least 73,000, left 3 million homeless and destroyed thousands of schools.
We support math, science, history and English as an alternative to Islamic fundamentalist Madrassa schools. Some Madrassa schools teach militant jihad to young children who will ultimately take paid jobs as jihadists once they become teenagers. Not many westerners understand that jihadists are literally holding highly paid jobs, often because they have no better options.
To counter these trends, we have planned 13 projects ranging from building school bathrooms and sponsoring children, to supporting clinics. Since 2005, we have partially supported six private schools and about 1,200 students.
