Junior Achievement of Mississippi Valley, Inc. (an independent operation of JA Worldwide) was founded in 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri, and presently encompasses 20 counties in Missouri and 14 counties in southwest Illinois.
Junior Achievement provides programs about Business and economics to schools in the area. Local volunteers teach students about the importance of schooling, while also helping students to understand the value of financial literacy. Over 114,000 students in over 600 schools are projected to participate during the 2006-07 school year.
Since 1943, we have matched local volunteers with groups of students – everything from after-school programs where kids start and run their own business to our in-school model for students from Kindergarten through 12th grade. JA empowers students with the intelligence and self-esteem to move forward and become all that they can be, whether it is a future consumer, employee, president or caregiver.
