Description
The JASA PETS Project addresses the needs of elderly pet owners whose capacity to care for their pets has been compromised by frailty, illness and/or inadequate income. The program coordinates the efforts of a growing Volunteer Corps to assist the elderly with routine care of their pets, short and long term emergency care and identifying low-cost resources related to the entire spectrum of pet care.
Studies show that senior citizens with pets suffer less from depression, require fewer doctor visits and have lower blood pressure than those without animal companions.
