MoSAIC (Model School Arts Integrated Curriculum) at Jefferson Elementary provides purposeful, integrated curriculum through quality arts experiences. With the belief that fine arts are an integral part of a basic education, Jefferson Elementary teachers sought to integrate the arts into standard classroom curriculum which contributes to the aesthetic, perceptive, creative and cognitive growth of every child.
Because the arts connect us with people and experiences other than our own, they lure us into taking that crucial first step in someone else’s shoes. Finally, aesthetic literacy replenishes the spirit and elevates humanity. As our world becomes uglier, noisier, and more cluttered with the superficial, our children must learn to recognize the beauty, harmony, and truth in their world. We believe integrating and balancing instructional experiences will empower students to become life long learners.
