Description

The mission of The Jed Foundation, a New York-based 501 (c) (3) charitable organization, is to reduce the suicide rate among college and university students, primarily in the United States.

The foundation focuses on understanding the underlying mental health causes of suicide and producing effective programs of prevention, information, and intervention that are used on college and university campuses. Working with leaders in higher education, government, and the scientific research community, The Jed Foundation:

-fosters greater public awareness of the extent of college-age suicides;
-collaborates with colleges and universities to strengthen mental health services on campus;
-creates linkages between the academic research community that works on suicide prevention, and the higher education professionals who work directly with students; and
-produces innovative internet-based intervention systems for college students.
