Description
Ivymount is a non-secterian, non-public special education day school.
Ivymount’s integrated approach to learning includes educational programs and therapeutic services for 225 students, ages 4-21, from throughout the Washington Metropolitan area with serious developmental delays, learning disabilities, communication disorders, autism, and/or multiple handicaps.
Since its founding in 1961, Ivymount has served over 7,000 children and young adults with disabilities. Over the years, Ivymount’s program has evolved and expanded, yet its mission has remained the same - to offer a model, creative, multicultural, non-biased learning environment where all students can achieve their highest level of development; to support families in their efforts to make intelligent, thoughtful choices for their children; and, to maintain a leadership role in the community and the field of special education so that Ivymount’s considerable expertise is widely accessible.
