The Iowa Space Science Center is a new Iowa-based initiative to increase public awareness of science and its methods. It will use outreach programming to K-12 schools and establish a regional museum with a focus on the history and highlights of space science, a discipline with over a 2000-year history. It will emphasize transmitting the excitement of discovery through personal interactions with engaging docents and volunteers. It will also honor the legacy of James Van Allen, Iowa's most famous scientist. The ISSC is in a formative stage. More information is available at our website.
