Description

The mission of the Civil Rights Commission is to enforce civil rights laws, increase public awareness of civil rights, provide dispute resolution services, and offer community services throughout the state.

The Commission's major duty is to enforce state and federal statutes that prohibit discrimination in employment, public accommodations, housing, education and credit by investigating and litigating civil rights complaints. In addition, the Commission provides conflict resolution services and mediation for civil rights matters. In addition to its role as an enforcer of civil rights laws, the Commission actively educates the public to prevent discrimination, biased conduct and stereotypes.
