The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a leading non-sectarian, non-profit voluntary organization providing emergency relief, protection, rehabilitation assistance and resettlement services for victims of oppression or violent conflict worldwide. The IRC has one overarching goal: to restore the health, livelihood and dignity of refugees as well as their opportunity to live in freedom. IRC Baltimore opened its doors in July 1999 and has expanded its capabilities to become one of Maryland’s leading resettlement agencies, resettling 300 refugees each year. The overall goal of IRC Baltimore’s resettlement program is to assist refugees to achieve self-sufficiency as quickly as possible through coordinated case management, education, employment and resource development services. IRC Baltimore’s mission is to help refugees regain control of their lives while enabling them to fully participate in their American communities and maintaining their rich cultural heritage.
