Description
The International Center in New York, Inc. has been providing English language training and cultural education since 1961. Immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers, students, and other foreign-born individuals from over 85 countries come together with our corps of over 1,000 volunteers. The Center provides daily discussion and lecture courses, practical and training workshops, ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes, civics education, and arts and culture activities and programs as well as Collaborative Programs in sites across New York City.
The Center’s mission is to support immigrants and other newcomers in their efforts to overcome the linguistic and cultural barriers associated with starting new lives in the United States, and to build stronger community bonds between newcomers and New Yorkers by bringing these groups together under the context of learning English.
