Description

The Indiana Mothers’ Milk Bank, Inc. (IMMBI) was established with the guiding principle that human milk is the most beneficial choice of infant feeding and it is of paramount importance for premature and ill infants. However, since some mothers are unable to provide sufficient milk, the only alternative, without organizations like ours, is infant formula that simply does not provide the easy digestibility, superior nutrient absorption, and live infection-fighting factors present in human milk.

IMMBI is the first nonprofit donor human milk bank in Indiana and one of only ten in the nation. The mission of IMMBI is to improve the health of the community through the establishment and operation of a donor human milk bank.

IMMBI receives human milk from carefully screened donors, then pasteurizes, freezes, and distributes it, by prescription or hospital order, to premature and ill infants throughout Indiana and surrounding states.
