Independent Living Resource Center - ILRC

about

Our Mission is to assist and encourage individuals with disabilities to achieve their optimal level of self-sufficiency while eliminating the architectural, communication and attitudinal barriers, which prevent them from full participation in the community. The ILRC, established in 1976, is a consumer-based organization that assists people with disabilities on a peer-to-peer level, people with disabilities helping other people with disabilities, allowing them to use an independent living model of determining their own health/in-home care, housing situation, job, lifestyle, etc. Currently 89% of our staff and 100% of our Board of Directors are persons themselves with disabilities. We provide services to about 1,400 consumers a year in the Tri-County area.
