The Huntington’s Disease Society of America, Washington Metro Chapter is a group of relatives, caretakers, friends and people with HD who work together to support each other, provide hope and comfort, raise awareness about HD’s effects, and work together to find a cure or treatment to alleviate HD’s most ravaging effects. The Chapter represents people from throughout the Washington DC Metro area – including Virginia and Maryland – and provides some support services, one-on-one counseling, and networking. Our chapter is also working to fight HD by raising funds for research. We hold several fundraising events and activities throughout the year. Finally, we are aiming to become a voice of advocacy for the greater HD community. We also maintain a HELPLINE which responds to inquiries each year from families for facts about HD and information regarding local resources. We are self supporting through voluntary contributions, fund raisers and financial grants.
