Description
The vision of Houston Hope is to substantially reduce poverty and create hope for the residents of Houston’s poorest and most blighted neighborhoods.
The mission of Houston Hope is to coordinate and facilitate the assembling of community stakeholders and city leaders in order to develop and implement collaborative and comprehensive plans of improvement in Houston’s low income neighborhoods.
Houston Hope serves seven of Houston’s poorest and most blighted neighborhoods: Acres Home, Clinton Park, Independence Heights, Magnolia Park, Settegast, Sunnyside, and Trinity/Houston Gardens. Per capita income in these neighborhoods ranges from $5,457 in Magnolia Park to $10,954 in Acres Homes. Almost 60% of the children in Settegast live below poverty, and 71% of the population over 25 in Magnolia Park does not have a high school diploma.
