Housing Opportunities for Women (HOW's) mission is to provide permanent solutions to the problems of homelessness and poverty for women and children in Chicago---and to advance the goal of ending homelessness nationwide.
HOW accomplishes this mission by providing permanent housing and support services that help women meet education, training and employment goals, access community-based resources and integrate into the community.
HOW believes that ending homelessness requires two fundamental responses: housing stabilization and prevention of housing displacement.
HOW has developed a range of affordable, permanent supportive housing programs that provide subsidized housing and services geared to the needs of particularly underserved homeless populations in Chicago.
HOW also emphasizes education as a key to breaking the cycle of poverty and homelessness for the next generation.
