Description
The House Rabbit Society is an all volunteer, non profit 501(C)3 organization with two primary goals:
1) To rescue abandoned or abused rabbits and find permanent homes for them and
2) To educate the public in proper rabbit care
The House Rabbit Society of Chicago is part of a national organization. At the local HRS Chapter, we are dedicated to rescuing rabbits from shelters that kill, from abandonment outside and from abuse.
Equally important are our educational efforts. HRS maintains a web site and also has a telephone help line message system to answer rabbit care questions.
A very important part of our educational activity is to promote the idea that animals should never be given as gifts, especially "Easter Bunnies." Any pet should be a decision that has been carefully considered by the entire family. We discourage impulse buying and educate potential rabbit owners.
