Description

Established in 1986, Home of the Sparrow serves the community as a transitional shelter program that provides housing and supportive services to women and their children who are homeless. Our mission is to empower individuals and families to eliminate homelessness, joblessness and hunger by teaching self-reliance, independence and self-discipline. Our program is created to strengthen and enable women to: Develop basic life skills suited to each woman's situation, secure and maintain employment that pays a livable wage, develop a continuing education plan, setting realistic and achievable goals, evaluate their financial status, learning how and why it is important to maintain a budget, identify mental health issues that impact self-sufficiency and connect with appropriate assistance, learn and apply new, healthy parenting skills to enhance the lives of their children and ultimately obtain permanent housing.
