1882 Founding name: Home of the Merciful Saviour for Crippled Children. Day & residential school for children and young adults who have severe, multiple disabilities. In addition to special education curriculum, and state-of-the-art assistive technology program, HMS's specialized therapies include: Speech/Language, PT, OT, Music, Adaptive Art, Therapeutic Recreation, and Dance/Movement. Support services include: 24-hr nursing staff, social work, medical director and consultant team of specialists. HMS creates a joyful, upbeat atmosphere where students work hard and also have fun. At HMS we celebrate life with laughter, parties, dances, festivals and outings. Students enjoy the same activities as other youngsters -- sports, music, telling jokes, painting their nails.
