Sotterley Plantation is a historic site dating back to 1703 overlooking the scenic Patuxent River. Older than Mount Vernon or Monticello, this museum site is committed to preservation, research, and being an educational and cultural resource to the community and to the state. Hosting thousands of school children on-site annually for hands-on experiential learning, holding a speaker series held free to the general public, and hosting many wonderful annual events such as the Riverside WineFest, Garden Fair, Independence Day Concert, Ghosts of Sotterley Tours, Holiday Candlelight Tours, and Family Plantation Christmas, Sotterley is an integral part of the cultural landscape of the region.
