Description
In 2002, three-time Tony award winner Hinton Battle created HBTL as a vehicle to expand the involvement of minorities in every aspect of the entertainment industry.
HBTL finds, develops, and presents compelling, original theatrical works that reflect America’s multicultural heritage.
HBTL accomplishes its goals through dynamic programs that nourish emerging artists and gives minorities opportunities to develop professionally.
These programs include our Diverse Voices Playwriting Contest, which offers emerging playwrights the opportunity to have their works judged by professionals in the industry, and our Youth Academy, slated for the summer of 2006 as a pilot program in Harlem, which will train young people in drama, dance, and eventually all aspects of production at zero cost to the student.
