Description
Hillbarn Theatre’s Mission is “To create theatre with the community, for the community, striving always for excellence in production and education.” The 6th oldest community theatre in the United States, our hallmark is top-drawer education and award-winning, artistically excellent productions that includes the production of six MainStage plays/musicals and detailed instruction in theatre arts to young people ages 4 - 18. Another program at Hillbarn operates a Readers’ Theater program to support local playwrights by producing staged readings of new works. Our Community Outreach Initiative brings performing art into schools and we are working on a standards based curriculum for at-risk youth in multiple subject areas with a local continuation high school. Additionally, we make our facility available for special functions to community groups and we support their efforts by providing tickets for their auctions and events.
