Description
High Country Basset Hound Rescue and Adoption Service Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of Basset Hounds. Founded in 1981 and incorporated in the State of Colorado in 1982, it is operated solely by volunteers.
Rescued Bassets are from pounds or shelters, or are strays whose owners cannot be found, or are relinquished directly by owners who no longer want them. Each rescued Basset is taken to a veterinarian and is immunized, spayed or neutered, and provided with an identification tag and collar. It is then placed in a home-hopefully one which will adopt it after the four week trial period. If a potential home is not available, the dog is placed in a foster home until a permanent one can be found.
