Description
Hernando High School is in Brooksville, Florida; just one hour north of Tampa. The town is so very small that it was featured in the television show "The Simple Life". The school has good programs for students. Our Cross-Country, Band, Basketball, Baseball, AFROTC Drill and Colorguard are all very highly regarded teams and win many competitions. We are a "D" school and do not get the funding that this technologically advanced age requires. Many students complete their entire four years at Hernando without ever logging on to a computer. The math classes REQUIRE a graphing calculator, yet neither provide one nor list it in the "School Supplies" for parents; it costs about $150 and $400. The everlasting "need" of perishable items chalk, dry-erase markers, pens, pencils, paper. Teachers pay for these items themselves; on the $26,000 a year that they make in Hernando County. Hernando is not the best school in the state, but the students care about it. It's all we got here in Brooksville.
