Description
The Hergl Center is a nonprofit residential and day care and facility established by parents in 1983 to provide highly specialized residential and educational training services to developmentally disabled adults. The primary diagnosis of the Hergl Center clients is mental retardation with chronic brain disorder, autism and/or emotional disturbance. The Center's program has been adapted from the successful program for children developed at the Hergl School in San Francisco,
a respected school serving developmentally disabled children since 1951. The program is funded in part by the D.D.S. by relies on private contributions to provide for the necessarily high staff- to- client ratio.
