Description
The National Hemophilia Foundation is dedicated to finding better treatments and cures for bleeding and clotting disorders and to preventing the complications of these disorders through education, advocacy and research.
The Central Ohio Chapter services 22 Counties an approx. 700 consumers.
Our challenges we face today: Awareness of our cause, we are only 25,000 consumers nationwide but our expenses are approx. $300,000 – $500,000 annually for about ½ of this population (that over 5.6 billion blood cost). Ohio has approx. 2100 consumers (almost 10% of the nation) Ohio has over 1100 consumers under the age of 18 and is growing at a rate of 20% per year. We are focus on our youth and the safety of our current and future blood supply.
