Description

When most people hear the term "deaf-blind" they immediately think of the inspirational Helen Keller. But did you know that, today, there are tens of thousands of children and adults who live with combined vision and hearing loss? The causes of deaf-blindness are many, yet the impact for all is the same - isolation from people, places and things. HKNC is the only national vocational training program exclusively serving youth and adults who are deaf-blind. At our NY campus, we provide training in communication, adaptive technology, travel skills, independent living and work. Through our field services, we provide advocacy, support and training on a regional basis to those who are deaf-blind, their families and professionals who serve them. Your donation supports HKNC's mission "to enable each person who is deaf-blind to live and work in the community of their choice." Thank you for your support!
