Heartwood is a cooperative network of grassroots groups, individuals and businesses dedicated to the health and well being of the heartland and eastern forests and the interdependent plant, animal and human communities. Heartwood protects forests and supports community activism in the eastern United States through advocacy, education and citizen empowerment. Heartwood’s goals are to:
•Protect public lands from logging, mining and motorized recreation
•Empower local and regional forest protection activists and organizations
•Serve as a network and resource for grassroots efforts that improve local communities
•Advocate for alternative and recycled sources of fiber products traditionally sourced from virgin wood.
