Description
The Heart of Texas Urban Gardening Coalition (HOT UGC), a 501(c)3 charitable nonprofit, partners with numerous community organizations in and around Waco – planting gardens and building relationships – at the grassroots level. Using the garden as our gathering grounds, the HOT UGC strengthens the local food system, improves access to healthy food, and empowers folks to grow their own. Our current garden activities include providing support and guidance for more than 15 churches and community organizations across the Heart of Texas, conducting afterschool garden clubs with Waco ISD, and promoting the local food movement and entrepreneurial activities through the Waco Downtown Farmers Market.
