Heart of America Indian Center d/b/a Kansas City Indian Center

about

Our mission is to encourage social, educational, and economic advancement of the American Indian community by promoting traditional and cultural values. Founded in the 1950s and formally incorporated in 1971, KCIC works diligently to keep the community connected to its indigenous identity and provided needed social supports, including food pantry and outpatient substance abuse treatment. Cultural gatherings and classes educate the Kansas City community and support our families in cultural connectedness. We have hosted a residential youth Culture Camp for more than 35 years. The organization also provides community outreach to schools, businesses and at events to provide insight, awareness and education on American Indian history and values.
