About Harambee Community Development Initiative
The Harambee Community Development Initiative is a 501c3 non-profit organization that was formed in 1994 to help strengthen and build nurturing families in East Orange, NJ and the surrounding communities. Over the years, Harambee has delivered a wide range of social services and programs that promote empowerment, self-sufficiency and personal achievement. Today, the organization provides quality pre-school, after school and summer programs to youth ages 2-17 years in a nurturing, academically stimulating environment. Harambee places a strong emphasis on parental involvement and offers a variety of programs and resources to equip parents to play a more active and effective role in their children’s education.
