Description

The mission of HALOS is to improve the quality of life for victims of abuse and neglect and to prevent maltreatment through community education and involvement. Founded in 1997, HALOS links community groups, referred to as "Partners," to caseworkers at the Charleston County Department of Social Services in Charleston County, South Carolina, to meet the needs of abused and neglected children and the families struggling to care for them. Programs are designed to provide lessen the burdens on the child and emphasize opportunities to experience the joys of childhood. HALOS Partners and friends provide donations to support these annual programs that include Summer Camp, Back to School support, Holiday Giving, and Birthday Salutes. In addition, Partners donate goods to meet special needs of children and their families such as beds, cribs, furniture, and financial assistance.
