Description

Mission:
HLD is a non-profit, non-governmental organization with the primary goal of promoting literacy in primary and secondary schools in Haiti. To enrich the infrastructure of this devastated country, HLD’s environmental arm purchases and plants trees to protect against mudslides.

Goal:
To build a new, more vibrant, democratic and prosperous Haiti through a three-part program yielding educational opportunities for its children.

The programs you are supporting:
1. We focus the organization’s efforts on the public primary and secondary school system.
2. We build the capacity of teachers to become better prepared to teach.
3. We teach each student about the value of protecting their communal environment.

The organization relies on the generosity of private individuals, foundations and corporations to fund its education and environmental programs. HLD does not receive any support, financial or in-kind, from any government.
