Habitat for Humanity of Porter County is a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. Porter County HFH seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Our affiliate concentrates on building projects throughout Porter County, Indiana, located in the northwest corner of the state. Our affiliate tithes ten percent of our contributions to support homebuilding in other countries, and we work closely with the student Habitat chapter at Valparaiso University. HFHI receives no government funds that are directly designated for home construction. Local residents, churches, and businesses support our work through their generous donations of labor, funds, and equipment.
