LowCountry Habitat for Humanity is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. Homes are sold to qualified families in need at no profit and with no interest charged. Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individuals, churches and businesses provide money and materials to build Habitat homes. Program families invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and homes of others. Mortgage payments are deposited in a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more homes.
Founded in 1990 to serve Northern Beaufort County, our affiliate has built 31 homes to date.
