Description
The Greenbrier River Watershed Association serves in the best interests of the Greenbrier River, the longest untamed river left in the East. It is ecologically unique with its rare habitats: riparian karst (cave), shale barrens, and Ice Age refugiums to name a few. Visitors all over the world come to study or simply enjoy this portion of West Virginia.
We view the watershed as a treasure inherited from the kindness of past generations. Outreach and Education reinforces our pride in the Greenbrier, and validates our need to preserve it as a legacy, so that its resources will be enjoyed for many more generations. We work with our citizens in environmental literacy, proactive networking and legal procedures, and improve the quality of life by improving our air and water. Our unique habitats provide unique challenges and rewards. We attend community festivals, provide research, and attend schools. Our work is never-ending, yet rewarding!
