Description

The Green Mountain Club (GMC) was established in 1910 to create, maintain, and protect Vermont's Long Trail - a 272 mile footpath along the crest of the Green Mountains stretching from Massachusetts to Canada.

Today, the Long Trail System includes 445 miles of hiking trails and 66 overnight shelters and lodges. The Club (consisting of about 9,500 members) has also protected over 24,000 acres of backcountry lands and educates the public and its members about outdoor ethics and hiking safety.
